FFXIV Classes and Jobs Overview

In Final Fantasy XIV, there are a variety of classes and jobs to choose from. With so many options available to players, it can be hard to know which one is best for you. Here’s an overview on the different types of classes in FFXIV with a link that will take you straight into each class’ respective wiki page!

The “ffxiv jobs” is a page that provides an overview of all classes and job available in the game. This article will provide information about each class, what they are used for, their abilities, and how to get started with them.

The class system in Final Fantasy XIV is handled a little differently than in other MMOs. Some classes in Final Fantasy XIV are exactly that: classes. Many of the fundamental courses, on the other hand, develop into “jobs” that signify mastery of the archetype. What’s the difference between disciplines, courses, and jobs? Let’s speak about it in the FFXIV Classes and Jobs Overview from High Ground Gaming.

Overview of the FFXIV Class System

Here’s a quick rundown of Final Fantasy 14’s class structure.

  • In Final Fantasy XIV, players may choose from a variety of classes, each with its own set of talents and abilities.
  • Jobs: These are class “mutations” or “evolutions” that provide certain classes the ability to learn new abilities or change their roles. There isn’t a specific Job for every class.
  • Disciples: To further define the purpose and skills of the classes in Final Fantasy XIV, they are divided into “Disciples of…” groupings – Disciples of War, Disciples of Magic, Disciples of the Hand, and Disciples of the Land.
  • Tank, Healer, and DPS are the three fundamental MMO categories that classes fall under. Their tasks are divided into five categories in Final Fantasy 14: tank, healer, melee DPS, physical ranged DPS, and magic ranged DPS. This may be seen on their official website.

Classes, Disciplines, and Jobs in Final Fantasy XIV — Oh My!

The fighting classes in Final Fantasy XIV are divided into two categories: Disciples of War and Disciples of Magic. Don’t get too worked up over it; it’s pretty much what it says on the tin. Disciples of War use physical force and razor-sharp steel to inflict harm, while Disciples of Magic rely on spells and mana management.

We’ll take a little break here to allow you a chance to pronounce “mana management” three times quickly. Is everything finished? Great! Now let’s speak about the courses themselves, as well as what your job entails.

Some courses are required for their employment. Other courses become their place of employment. To put it another way, early on in the creation of FFXIV, classes were designed around the Job system, which was a hallmark of the Final Fantasy series. It was the first RPG to introduce the concept of a character switching classes on the fly to advance through various material and solve class-specific obstacles.

As FFXIV evolved, the creators discovered that juggling both classes and occupations was a bit of a pain, both for them and for the players. As a result, beginning with Heavensward, new classes included through expansions begin as their job — a type of handy fusion – whereas core A Reborn Realm classes must mature into their occupations.

So, you’re interested in becoming a DPS?

Let’s look at an example scenario to give some additional insight on the situation:

Assume you wish to play a Ranged DPS character in this scenario. You’d probably choose for the Archer, which is one of the A Reborn Realm classes. You choose the Archer class and begin questing across Gridania, defeating enemies and saving the day in general. You’ll unlock the Job Quests after reaching level 30 and finishing the corresponding Main Story Quest (Sylph-management), the first of which is The One That Got Away for the Archer.

After completing the quest, you will get a Soul Crystal, which will provide you access to the Bard Job for the Archer Class. As a result, the Archer Class is enhanced by the Bard Job, which grants you additional tools such as the Bardic Songs, which empower you and your allies. You’d still utilize your bow as your primary weapon, as well as arrow-related weaponskills, but things would seem to be a little more magical in practice than when you were simply an Archer. From here on out, you’ll mostly use the Bard Job until you reach the endgame content.

You could, of course, remove the Soul Crystal and return to being a regular Archer, but why would you want to?

Take on the role of the job and become one with it.

As previously stated, not every class has a job. Some courses are required for their employment. New classes introduced with expansions, like as Heavensward’s Dark Knight and Stormblood’s Samurai, mix the roles of class and employment. The lack of a clumsy Soul Crystal unlock mechanism simply means that gameplay is more simplified.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: keeping up with your Career Quests is the key to maximizing your job potential! Many of your job’s particular skills are dependent on them. This includes the expansion class/jobs.

The Hand’s Land

After you’ve gotten your fill of warfare, you may want to relax and enjoy the simple joys of harvesting and working with your hands. The Disciples of the Hand and Disciples of the Land are the other Disciples in Final Fantasy XIV, and it’s time we spoke about them.

Crafting classes in Final Fantasy XIV are Disciples of the Hand, whereas collecting classes are Disciples of the Land. Both must work together to transform Eorzea’s raw material bonanza into usable weapons, armor, and consumables. However, since this is a Final Fantasy game, you may easily swap between them and form a single Miqo’te economic army.

There are no occupations available for the crafting and collecting classes, unlike the War and Magic Disciples. You, your tools, and the results of your effort are all you have. There are, however, a host of Class Quests and other minigame-like mechanisms to assist you in your leveling. Once you’ve partnered with a Grand Company, try the daily Hand and Land supply missions. They’re a terrific way to get experience and one of the most vital aspects of power leveling.
