Far Cry 6 is a new game that was released on March 27, 2019. Ubisoft has not yet announced when the next installment of this series will be coming out.

Far Cry 6 is Ubisoft’s most anticipated game of the year. For October 7th, the highly awaited sequel will be released on consoles and PC, but it doesn’t stop there. Ubisoft has provided a comprehensive breakdown of all the game’s free and premium content, and we’ll be delving further into each of them.

Post-launch material is available for free.

As if the 100-hour core adventure wasn’t enough, we’ll be bombarded with free DLC within the first year of the game’s release. Ubisoft does not want you to put this game down for a long time.

Weekly Insurgencies will begin on the first day of the game, when you may gain new gear and discover much-needed treasure. These are more tougher combat encounters that will occur on your map, and clearing them will reward you handsomely.

From October onwards, you’ll be assigned to six Special Operations tasks, such as transporting an explosive chemical weapon to a specified area while ensuring its temperature remains low enough by chilling it with water or other methods. It’s a brand-new gameplay feature that’s sure to pique your interest.

Missions that cross across

We’re still in the category of free content updates, but this time the playable missions are considerably more substantial and include well-known characters or IPs. We’ve seen plenty of Rainbow Six crossovers with pop-culture multimedia IPs, and Far Cry 6 seems to be a good match for a few of them.

1633516496_817_Far-Cry-6-post-launch-roadmapEveryone vs. Danny & Dani

You’ll be able to join Danny Trejo on some crazy escapades in December. He is a well-known actor who has appeared in films such as Con Air, Desperado, and Machete. It should come as no surprise that he’ll be bringing his trusty melee weapon into Far Cry 6, and you’ll be joining him on a quest to deliver delicious tacos to the people of Yara in “Danny & Dani Vs. Everyone.”

“Rambo – All the Blood” is the title of the next cross-over event, which will take place next year, in February 2022. Unfortunately, we won’t be seeing Sylvester Stallone himself, as we’ll be playing with a Rambo superfan who only dresses like him and will most likely quote lines from the movies. However, they promise some bloody, over-the-top action right out of a ’80s movie. I’m already intrigued by the many allusions to the Rambo films that will be found in the game.

1633516498_355_Far-Cry-6-post-launch-roadmapStranger Things – The Disappearance

Netflix wants a piece of the action pie as well, and has enlisted the help of Ubisoft to produce the popular Stranger Things franchise. They’re no strangers to collaborating, as they’ve previously collaborated on bringing La Casa De Papel (Money Heist in certain countries) to Rainbox Six Siege, among other things (-see what I did there?-).

The Vanishing, a Stranger Things cross-over event, will debut in March 2022 and will bring the horror-filled world of Stranger Things to our PCs and consoles. The narrative teases that we’ll be looking for our Amigo Chorizo (Far Cry 6’s pet name), and I’m getting chills just thinking about it. I’m curious whether we’ll be seeing The Upside Down or facing a Demogorgon. (I’m crossing my fingers!)

Content included in the Season Pass

We’re now entering paid territory, which means you’ll have to pay for the season pass or individual DLC episodes to access the stuff listed below. We’re getting a lot of hours of gameplay, and the Season Pass is typically more than worth it, based on previous Ubisoft games like Watch Dogs Legion and the Assassin’s Creed series. Let’s get started!

You’ll get access to the Blood Dragon set from the start, which includes unusual weaponry like a fast-firing futuristic pistol and a leather and neon-pink costume with a laser eye. It’s my favorite set in the game, and I’ve been playing with it for hours, but you’ll have to suspend the disbelief that someone is dressed like this while playing the videogame.

From November onwards, three DLC episodes will be available in which you may play as a well-known villain from prior games. The game is described as a roguelike in which you start with a tiny firearm and gradually improve your gear and stats through dying and retrying. It’s a concept that’s been seen in a number of games, but it’s new to the Far Cry series.

1633516499_571_Far-Cry-6-post-launch-roadmapInsanity in Far Cry 6

The first DLC episode, titled “Insanity,” will be released in November 2021 and will have you playing as Far Cry 3’s fan-favorite villain “Vaas.” While he wasn’t the game’s primary antagonist, he is by far the most well-known, and his famous statement, “Did I ever tell you what the definition of insanity is?” is often quoted online. Insanity is doing the same same thing over and again expecting things to change… That. Is. Crazy.”

1633516500_893_Far-Cry-6-post-launch-roadmapFar Cry 3: Blood Dragon is a third-person shooter developed by Ubisoft.

We’ll gain access to the entire game “Far Cry 3 – Blood Dragon” in December 2021 to hold us over until the next character DLC arrives. When it first came out in 2013, this stand-alone game got a lot of acclaim, and it’s still available for $14.99 on most previous-gen systems. However, they did not specify if this is a slightly remastered version or the original with no improvements. But, nonetheless, it’s a great bonus to keep us occupied, particularly if you didn’t possess it.

It’s a high-octane cyber shooter set on a strange open-world island teeming with evil. It’s a trip through an 80s VHS vision of the future in which you’re battling a renegade cyborg army in the year 2007. Get the lady, kill the bad guys, and rescue the planet is your goal.

1633516500_172_Far-Cry-6-post-launch-roadmapControl in Far Cry 6

The second character episode, “Control,” will be released in January 2022. We’ll be taking on the role of Pagan Min from Far Cry 4. Pagan Min, Kyrat’s leader, is renowned for his colorful attire, unusual brutality, and usually indifferent attitude about even the most dramatic occurrences. He is a soft-spoken individual who seldom expresses feelings that are more than small annoyances. As we manage the character ourselves in this DLC episode, we’ll witness some of the inner workings of his mind from behind the veil.

1633516501_215_Far-Cry-6-post-launch-roadmapCollapse is the sixth game in the Far Cry series.

Finally, in March 2022, we will get the opportunity to play Joseph Seed, also known as “The Father,” in the last character episode, “Collapse.” He’s the primary adversary in Far Cry 5, a game I’m all too familiar with, having played it for hundreds of hours. He’s the head of a religious sect, and the seven deadly sins are tattooed on his body. Far Cry New Dawn proves that even a nuclear holocaust couldn’t kill this man. It’ll be fascinating to walk a mile in his shoes and see what drives him.

Is it worthwhile to get a Season Pass?

While we’re receiving a ton of free stuff and Far Cry 6 is already a huge game in its own right, the Season Pass material this time around is undeniably appealing. Playing as the major villains from Far Cry 3, 4, and 5 piqued my attention, and knowing Ubisoft, each episode should provide over a dozen hours of entertainment.

With three DLC episodes, a complete (although slightly outdated) game in Far Cry 3 – Blood Dragon, and some cool stuff accessible right away, it seems like you’ll get a lot of bang for your money.

1633516502_531_Far-Cry-6-post-launch-roadmapDifferent Versions of Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 is available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox One S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Luna, and Stadia. The Standard version will set you back about $59.99. The Gold Edition costs $99.99 and includes the Season Pass, which is worth $40. The Ultimate version costs $119.99 and contains three extra and unique gearsets.

It may be better to wait for a sale depending on how fast you play and how soon you want access to the unique items. If you’re the sort that beats the main game in a month or two, the season pass is a no-brainer and will provide many hours of additional entertainment.

If you’re the kind of player that dips in and out of the game, playing a few missions at a time, it’s definitely best to wait for a discount, since Ubisoft Season Passes typically go on sale for 50% off around a year after release.
