Since Netflix and Marvel’s collaboration ended and the shows they produced together began to fade, fans have questioned whether some of the most famous characters from Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and other Marvel/Netflix shows will return. The prospect of seeing Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin face battle against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man seems to be enticing. People wanted to believe it when D’Onofrio made a remark on Twitter that some fans mistook for a hint that the character could be returning in the form of an appearance on one of Marvel’s various projects on Disney+.

Unfortunately, D’Onofrio subsequently clarified on Twitter that he wasn’t implying anything. The actor said that he was simply joking about and that he was shocked and amused that people took it so seriously.

Because just repeating his words loses something in English, I’ve included the tweet below:

It’s pointless to delve further into the little things I write. I’ve been composing these for quite some time. Despite the fact that I respect the fandom. Because I had so much fun portraying him in @daredevil

Daredevil was a Netflix series that aired for three seasons between 2015 and 2018. Charlie Cox portrayed the eponymous superhero, with Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson portraying his love interest and closest buddy, respectively, and Vincent D’Onofrio as his archenemy. It was ostensibly set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and frequently cited the events of Marvel’s The Avengers, as were all of Marvel’s shows at the time, but whether it remains canon or not is up for debate following a management changeover that gave Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige control over the TV shows. The move resulted in the termination of programs that were running elsewhere, as well as the creation of a number of new, considerably more continuity-intensive series on Disney+.

While the majority of the characters from the Marvel/Netflix collaborations are still fan favorites, Daredevil, Kingpin, and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) seem to be the characters that fans want to see more of.

When asked whether he will ever return to the character of Frank Castle/The Punisher, Bernthal replied, “You know, we’ll see.” “I mean, to be honest, I don’t give it much thought. I’m overjoyed — look, we’re all very fortunate to be doing this. I can speak for the other men you’re talking to when I say that we absolutely adore this. This is something we truly like doing. We put in long hours, we support our families with it, but we never forget how fortunate we are to be in a situation where we can do what we love for a career. This is something I like doing. I like collaborating with individuals I respect, love, and admire in order to create new things. This is exactly the kind of project I want to be working on. So, whatever comes down the road, comes down the way.”

There have also been rumors that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdoch (the hidden identity of Daredevil, who is a lawyer) would be Peter Parker’s lawyer in the forthcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home. When questioned about it lately, Cox said he didn’t want to give anything away.

“In any case, I wouldn’t want to sabotage anything. Do you get what I’m saying? “he said “So that makes me a bit worried in that respect, since it’s a tough subject to discuss. All I can say is that I suppose everyone, including myself, will just have to wait and see what happens.”
