The Walking Dead’s Connie is back, but actress Lauren Ridloff believes “time will tell” what transpires between the PTSD-stricken survivor and potential love interest Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus). After going lost within a Whisperer cave in Season 10, Connie reunites with her sister Kelly (Angel Theory) on Sunday’s “On the Inside.” Connie’s return coincides with Daryl’s personal reunion with ex-lover Leah (Lynn Collins), who also happens to be a member of Pope’s (Ritchie Coster) “Chosen Ones” — a.k.a. the masked mercenaries known as the Reapers — on the search for Maggie (Lauren Cohan) in the aftermath of the Whisperer War.
Kelly is the one who discovers Connie with Virgil (Kevin Carroll) as they escape a house of horrors literally swarming with wild people, leading a group of Carol (Melissa McBride), Rosita (Christian Serratos), and Magna (Nadia Hilker). Connie, who has been on the run since fleeing Alpha’s (Samantha Morton) walker horde hiding place following an explosion cave-in, is suffering from nightmare memories that will worsen as the season continues.
When asked whether her reappearance could rekindle “sparks” between Connie and Daryl, who has changed since she last saw him, Ridloff told Decider through an American Sign Language translator, “One thing that is very apparent is that Connie has changed, as well.” “She’s in a different mental state now than she was before the cave. And now, she has finally reunited with a member of her group, particularly her sister.”
“”So I do believe that Connie now has some PTSD that she’s dealing with, and she has to deal with that first and see how that impacts her and her relationships, whether it’s with Daryl or her reentry into that group again,” Ridloff said. As a result, only time will tell.”
Despite fan calls for a romantic coupling of “Donnie” (Daryl and Connie) or “Caryl” (Melissa McBride and Connie), Ridloff pointed out that Connie and Carol (Melissa McBride) after Connie went missing in the Season 10 episode “Squeeze” (Carol and Daryl).
“Of course, there are the Donnie and Caryl shippers right now, as well as the fan wars. But I believe it was just a moment to demonstrate to everyone that Connie and Carol are two very mature women who have a relationship and a rapport apart from this man, and that he isn’t required to be involved “Last year on Talking Dead, Ridloff said something about a tender moment between Connie and a claustrophobic Carol. “And the fact that Connie was able to do something as basic as a handshake, and to experience that moment of humanity, it’s almost like touching her hand. Holding Carol’s hand would have been babying her, and that wasn’t the case. Carol needed that support, and I believe Connie came up with a clever method to provide it.”
