9 things you missed at Nets media day amid Kyrie Irving hoopla

The Nets media day has been a whirlwind of activity. With the news that Kyrie Irving is joining the team, there has been a lot to take in. Here are 9 things you missed at media day.

Despite the hype surrounding Kyrie Irving, there were a few other interesting things that happened at Nets media day. Read more in detail here: kyrie irving wednesday.

On Monday, the Brooklyn Nets had their annual media day, and there was just one big story: Kyrie Irving’s absence of an update on his immunization status. Everyone was speculating as to whether or not the star guard had been inoculated. If not, does it imply he won’t be able to play basketball in Brooklyn this season?

New York City has mandated that the Knicks and Nets get the vaccine, and players who reject may be barred from playing unless they have a religious or medical exception. During media day, a lot of attention was paid to any hints regarding Kyrie (even Joe Harris was asked if he felt Irving would play).

You may have heard a little more from the rest of the Nets if it hadn’t been for that national news. Let’s take a look at a few of the non-Kyrie items that may have been overlooked during Monday’s media availability.

In the midst of the Kyrie hysteria, here are 9 Nets tidbits you probably missed.

1. LaMarcus Aldridge is back and on the verge of achieving a big goal.

LaMarcus Aldridge, a seven-time All-Star, retired last season after being diagnosed with an abnormal heartbeat. He’s spoken to his family and physicians to make sure it’s safe for him to return to the Nets, and he’s doing it because of passion for the game. He filled in some information regarding the issue for us.

Aldridge stated that after retiring, he immediately went to his doctor and had tests done to determine what he could accomplish in daily life. They didn’t discover anything worrisome, so they increased the intensity. His agent became involved. I needed the time to do the necessary tests to ensure that he was in good health.

For post-retirement jobs, LaMarcus Aldridge revealed he was experimenting with real estate and NBA TV possibilities.

Aldridge doesn’t seem to have ever wanted to retire.

Kevin Durant, a Nets teammate, expressed his excitement for “LA” to break a particular scoring barrier on the all-time list. 49 points isn’t a lot for a player with LA’s delicate touch. It’s great that KD’s team captain is already aware of this and eager to share it with him, particularly considering his recent health scare.

When Kevin Durant learned that LaMarcus Aldridge wanted to return, he stated he trusted his judgment. I didn’t attempt to persuade him to change his mind as Marks did. He said that he was aware that LA was 49 points away from 20K and that he was disappointed that he would not be able to get it. I’m very excited to watch him hit it now.

2) Blake Griffin spotted a guy that resembled Dave Letterman… but had no idea it was actually him

In case you missed it, the real Dave Letterman made an appearance during media day and had a good time with Kevin Durant.

Dave Letterman showed up to the Nets’ media day and asked KD a crucial question.

It’s like, critical.

We could never have anticipated this outcome.

But there was something we didn’t see immediately away that Blake Griffin would disclose.

Blake Griffin, a fellow comic, observed David Letterman and said to himself, “That guy looks like David Letterman.” I was ready to make a joke at him since I didn’t think it was him, but I decided against it.

Imagine seeing that beard and yet questioning if it was Dave. Blake is also a comedian, so I was curious as to what joke he had in mind for “the look-alike.”

3) Patty Mills claims that he talked with Kevin Durant during the summer, which put him in championship mode.

Patty Mills said he’ll never forget his summer talks with Kevin Durant, Sean Marks, and Steve Nash.

Mills has experience in the NBA Finals, having participated in both the 2013 and 2014 finals. When Ray Allen hit his famous shot, they lost the first time. But the second time around, he won a redemption ring with San Antonio. He’ll still be wearing a black jersey. And he can’t get rid of one old Spurs teammate:

“I can’t get rid of the man,” Patty Mills says of playing alongside LaMarcus Aldridge again. #Nets

4) Bruce Brown is a country music fanatic.

Let’s face it, this Nets story would be the greatest news in the NBA today if it weren’t for the Kyrie situation. Brown’s love of country music is one of the most underappreciated tales in modern New York sports. When he throws down a lob from Harden, we’ll see whether the PA staff pumps some Johnny Cash through the arena speakers for him.

Bruce Brown, in other news, is a country music lover.

5) Paul Millsap said that deciding on Brooklyn was difficult, and he still hasn’t decided on a name for his new coach.

Paul Millsap, like his former Atlanta Hawks colleague Al Horford, is an underappreciated player. Millsap (and many others) may have gotten a little more attention if LeBron James hadn’t just dominated the NBA for so long. He discussed how deciding on the Brooklyn Nets was a tough choice. In the end, it was the prospect of playing alongside his new teammates that propelled him to this point.

Oh, and he still hasn’t decided what to call coach Steve Nash….

Paul Millsap says he hasn’t decided what to name Steve Nash yet. “Steve? Steve, are you a coach?”

6) Jevon Carter reminds us that we’re not talking about football here.

Jevon Carter, a former Suns pitbull defender, adds, “I tell people all the time this isn’t football.” According to YES Network, you “play both ends of the floor.” His toughness on defense and ability to play both sides of the floor, he believes, will be crucial for his new club.

7) James Harden is a big fan of Nic Claxton.

Nick Claxton isn’t sure what his position with the Nets will be yet, but James Harden likened him to Clint Capela, who had great pick-and-roll chemistry with Harden during their time together in Houston.

I asked Nic Claxton whether he was aware of his position going into training camp.

“To be honest, I’m not sure what my job will be. I simply want to keep improving and building on what I accomplished last year. “I’d want to broaden my horizons a little and assist the squad in any manner I can.”

September 27, 2021 — Chris Milholen (@CMilholenSB)

“He resembles me of Clint [Capela], but with better offensive skill,” James Harden said of Nic Claxton.

8) Joe Harris is unconcerned about social media since his family teases him enough.

When Joe Harris doesn’t play well for the Nets, he has a built-in method to deal with social media abuse. He seems to receive plenty from his mother and sisters.

Joe Harris acknowledges he could have done a better job in the playoffs. I inquired as to whether or not not being active on social media assisted him in avoiding that rabbit hole and allowing him to move on more quickly. “My mother and sisters thrashed me quite badly. I don’t need to go on Instagram to listen to anyone.” #Nets

9) What’s the latest on James Harden and Kyrie Irving’s injuries and extensions?

When asked about a potential contract, James Harden replied, “I don’t see myself anyplace else, honestly.” This was welcome news to Nets fans. It was suggested that if he waited a year, he could earn more money, but he said it wasn’t the only thing on his mind.

In terms of his hamstring, he said that his grade two injury may take the whole offseason to recover from. He gave the problem his entire attention, and he now feels “100 percent.”

“A hundred percent, I’m back, which I feel fantastic about,” James Harden said of his hamstring injury.

September 27, 2021 — Ohm Youngmisuk (@NotoriousOHM)

What about Kyrie Irving’s contract extension?

“We’re having excellent talks,” Kyrie Irving said of the potential Nets extension. It’s going swimmingly.”

September 27, 2021 — Chris Milholen (@CMilholenSB)

Kyrie’s ankle report was not as encouraging as Harden’s.

“It’s been a long road,” Irving said. I was in a lot of discomfort. I’ve been able to get some rehab work done. “We’re putting this season first,” YES Network reports.

Basketball is on the verge of becoming a reality.
